COTTON IN INDIA
Today, India is extremely well positioned in World Cotton Community as it is the second largest producer, consumer and exporter of Cotton in the world.
Also, India has the largest area under cotton cultivation in the world.
Cotton from India is largely demanded in the countries like China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand and Taiwan to name a few.
In India, cotton is diversely grown from Northern India, Central India to Southern India.
Northern India, cotton grows in the states of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.
Central India, it is grown in the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
Southern India, cotton is grown in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
India produces different varieties of cotton ranging from 20mm to 34 mm.
